My biggest issue with that scene in particular is Catelyn is comparing two totally different things. Yes Aegon the Unworthy did legitimize his bastards and that led to the blackfyre rebellions but he did that to be petty as he had an heir and a couple spares. Robb didn’t have that and was raised on that a Stark always need to be in the north. A cousin of the veil would not be a Stark

as much as I love that Robb named Jon his heir in the books, the way the show did it streamlines it in a way that works. every minute of runtime has to be worthwhile in an adaptation and at that point in the show the Northern Lords would easily recognize Jon as King in the North even if he wasn't explicitly named heir by Robb
