Hi dentist here! I can’t speak for anywhere else but in Australia we are taught all of these things in dental school ☺️Prevention is the father of modern dentistry and our entire dental school system operates around it. It’s actually drilled in us that prevention is key and we learn all about xylitol, hydroxyapatite and oil pulling. I actually recommend all of these to my patients and issue them oral care kits after their check up with products that utelise these ingredients! Many old fashioned dentists might not practice with this school of thought but most recent graduates in the last ten years definitely are taught of the importance of prevention. And despite what you might think, it is actually a joy to have patients who listen to oral health care and come back regularly with no major dental work needed to be done, it makes us feel like we’re helping change the world 🥰

Hi please if you are not a dental professional please stop trying to expand distrust in the dental community if you are not a dental provider. We are taught that very early incipient lesions can be reversible. That’s why doctors will prescribe things like MI paste, or prevident and your hygienist will got over oral hygiene care instructions and nutritional counseling. Some offices have curodont which highly effective in reversing early stage cavities. Dentist and hygienist are preventative specialist who specialize in treatment of restorative care and therapeutic gum cleanings only when necessary.

I was told I had NINE cavities. Went to get a second opinion and I had 2. The second dentist actually took photos and showed them to me. The first did not.
