Having people push on their back during labor is honestly one of the worst positions you can be in. It’s way harder, less effective, and just not comfortable and it mainly exists because it’s easier for the doctors. Even with an epidural, there are so many other positions that make pushing easier and safer. A doctor or nurse should never tell a patient they have to push on their back unless it is medically indicated.

Not eating. Gestational Diabetes had on FreeStyle Libre and alarm went off nurse asked what’s that noise I said sugar alarm, what’s your sugar? It’s 48. I got a meal then.

I really don’t understand why I can’t have at least a light snack or soft foods while in labor. I mean, I get the concern of aspiration, but that’s a slight risk if I get put under general anesthesia, and needing general anesthesia is only a slight risk if I need a c-section, and as I intend to have a vaginal birth, needing a c section is also a slight risk. All those IFs and your telling me I have to go hungry through one of the most physically laborious events of my life? Not a fan.

Yeah the c sections ones irk me. And the sheet being in my face like let me be involved. I’m being robbed of an experience by being here I don’t want to stare at the ceiling I want to see what’s happening.

My hospital let me have my man and my mom there for my epidural. Idk if I could’ve done it without them, I was so scared.

I hated being alone for my epidural but with both of my younger kids I wound up having the same nurse and I’ll never forget how she held onto me and talked me through it like she was my mom. So thankful for L&D nurses.

Thankful my team was super up to date. I ate the whole time as long as I wanted to and was never restricted in movement until I got the epidural bc I was obvs a fall risk atp but they were still able to get me in a squatting position to push 🥰
