Even though people believe in the Lord, why do some enter the kingdom of God while others are rejected at the gate? Jesus took on our sins, and through faith in Him, our sins are forgiven and we are not condemned, giving us the opportunity to receive eternal life. But here’s the problem: many think that simply saying, “I acknowledge Jesus as Lord, I got baptized, I attend church, I say ‘Lord, I believe’,” is enough to enter heaven. Yet, Jesus Himself told several parables to teach a vital truth: Not everyone who calls on His name will enter the kingdom of God. 1, The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares (Matthew 13) The wheat and the tares grow together and look very similar, but at harvest, the wheat is gathered into the barn, while the tares are burned. Outward appearances of faith do not reflect genuine life. 2. The Parable of the Ten Virgins The wise virgins prepared their oil and stayed alert for the bridegroom. The foolish virgins, though also waiting, did not prepare in advance. When the bridegroom came, they were shut out. This shows that even among believers, the paths we walk can be very different. 3. The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats The sheep represent those who listen to God’s word and live with love and mercy. The goats hear the word but do not obey. In the end, the sheep enter eternal life, while the goats face judgment. These parables remind us: attending church does not automatically mean entering God’s kingdom. Saying you believe does not guarantee genuine faith. Jesus said, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14 KJV) Only those with real, living faith will be chosen to enter the kingdom of God. If you want to know what genuine faith looks like, to understand God’s Word more deeply, and to prepare your heart for the return of the Lord, I invite you to join our online Bible study group.
