@stereogum: @Paul McCartney has announced ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane,’ his first new album in over five years, out May 29 via MPL/Capitol Records. Billed as “his most introspective album to date,” the LP finds the legendary songwriter reflecting on his childhood and earliest memories of his @The Beatles bandmates. ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’ was recorded with producer Andrew Watt in Los Angeles and Sussex over the last several years. The title comes from a lyric in lead single “Days We Left Behind,” which is streaming now. “This is very much a memory song for me,” McCartney says about the track. “It’s just a lot of memories of Liverpool. It involves a bit in the middle about John and Forthlin Road which is the street I used to live in. Dungeon Lane is near there. I used to live in a place called Speke which is quite working class. We didn’t have much at all but it didn’t matter because all the people were great and you didn’t notice you didn’t have much.” McCartney will play LA’s Fonda Theater this weekend.
