Working in France as an American was interesting. Between the work day starting and ending later, the 36h work week, and how seriously people took breaks and vacation time, it was definitely a change of pace. I do miss it a lot. The office culture though I never got the hang of.

when I was younger I worked for an amazing lady. She loved wine and she loved lunch. so when it wasnt our busy times we would have wine throughout the day and pretty often we would go to lunch and she would say "that was a good lunch and I don't want to work anymore today. Office is closed." 🤣 Now, many years later I own that business and she is forever my mentor.

In the US when the state laws started mandating 30 minute lunches for employees working 8+ hours, all the companies just extended the work day by half an hour to compensate. It sucks.
