When I drove a manual, I rarely downshifted just because I thought brakes cheaper than clutch so I mostly just clutch down, brake, coast around turns or when slowing and then just threw it into whatever gear matched the mph bc I memorized the rough range of mph for gear. Was I a dumbass or is that okay? I did of course very it some like lower gear for steep hills and such.

How come when I rev match sometimes my car jolts. I’ve been doing what you’ve been showing and I know cars are different but it won’t be as smooth. Are my rpms not matching as high?

applying gas to slow down sounds so wrong, tried it today, I done few of them smoothly but I have to force my leg off the brake to apply gas then back to brake.
