Tucked away in a white deep freezer in Mitchelle Blair’s living room were the frozen bodies of two of her children: 9-year-old Stephen and 13-year-old Stoni. Stephen had been killed in August 2012, followed by Stoni in May 2013. For nearly three years, Blair continued to live in the home with her two surviving children, forcing them to walk past the freezer every single day. She had even taken the children out of school to hide the abuse, telling neighbors various excuses for their disappearance. In court, Blair was cold and unrepentant. She claimed she was "protecting" her youngest son from the siblings she killed — a claim that investigators and her own surviving daughter, Gabi, later proved was entirely fabricated. Gabi testified that her mother was a "ticking time bomb" who used torture and starvation to control the household.
