@james_wrigg: ALDI SCALEFRAUD? I weighed 4 total Kirkwood chicken tender packages. All have been consistently under by 2.3 -3.2 oz. #scalefraud #aldiscam #kirkwoodfraud
Notice the weight discrepancy is NEVER in the consumer’s favor

The gel pad absorbs the lost liquid weight of the chicken pieces... maybe if added that it would be closer to weight

My guess is, the average person shrugs this off not realizing how much profit the company actually makes!

You should take into account the diaper at the bottom of the pack. Weigh a dry one then a wet one from the open package then get a true tare weight with plastic wrap and styrofoam. Water weight is a big factor in the chicken industry. If it states 10% saline solution added it’s for additional weight and moisture. I saw those it was pretty far off right from the get go. To me that’s a factory issue, they’ll go by total weight and charge aldi the tonage. If it’s off it’s at the processing plant and they’re making out!

You should weigh the package after it’s got all the chicken out out of it to find out if that makes up the missing bit

so they are including the weight of the package so they can make more money. say between their 13,500 stores they sell 1 million packs of chicken and they make an extra 50 cents per pack they are making an extra $500,000 in pure profit at our expense.

This affects people in many different ways. As a chef, I estimate the salt/spice content I’m gonna put in the dish by the weight of the meat that’s on the package…. So large discrepancies on the package can lead to my food being prepared too salty or with the wrong ingredient ratios….poo on that!

Every one of these is giving the company just a few cents but it adds up when thousands are sold!

How is this legal? Don’t we have a government department that looks out for customer fraud?

Mislabeled all the time. Could have been a little frozen when weighed. And some of those come labeled, so it can be a product issue.
