What if it was a domesticated extinct dog breed similar to a silken windhound? Thin build with a long snout fits. And the long “antlers” the swirly aspects of the legs could all be the windswept silky hair. This would also explain why, as “man’s best friend” it would be in 40% of the animal artwork since it would be with man during most of his outings and happenings.
