No. Wrong. My parents made me do all sorts of things.. from swim, skate, cello, piano, art, taekwondo, math, writing, summer schools and Girl Scouts. In order to do all those activities, every day was jam packed. I absolutely hated it. I couldn’t stand being controlled into things where I had no say. Some may say I was spoiled… but this is why I don’t force my kids into doing things they do not want to. I give the the option- I ask.. would you like to piano? Do you want to try soccer? Boxing? And if they say yes- then they try it. If they don’t want to continue I do not push them

Sorry i believe the child should pick their own hobby, for my child its swimming, if he likes to try something else he can do so.

As a child who sat in a poor mother’s lap, my mum chose education as our hobby because it unlocked every other hobby. My siblings and I are very successful now 🥰 it was never easy.

FR !! I wanted to be a basketball player was kinda good at it but my parents wanted me to Pick Girl scouts and go all the way up. I HATED IT back then, now in my 20s I am one of the youngest Girl scouts from my country to be awarded from our Country’s President for all the Badges I received and services I provided. This has opened so many doors for me now!!! 💕 most kids chose hobbies looking at other kinds but parents know what’s best for us TODAY & 10yrs from now!!!!

Allowing them to build up on the hobbies they love is also important.. Add the others too if you can afford and let them choose when they grow up.. Nothing beats doing something you absolutely love and have a passion for as a career..

If you push on maths, reading, science, maybe a language, sure, that’s fundational education. But pushing for sports? How will that shape their future? The % of people who make sports a career is so small… not to mention the risk of injuries
