I look back and I see so many PCOS symptoms that aren’t just irregular periods and excess facial hair. I see “PCOS belly”, where I had excess weight in my abdomen. I didn’t only feel pregnant, I remember thinking I often looked pregnant. But I wasn’t and I was crushed. So often was hope taken away. The rapid weight gain would come out of nowhere and make me think I was pregnant again from the symptoms, and I wasn’t. I had “PCOS moon face”, swelling in my cheeks and rounded appearance in my face. This went away after 2 weeks taking magnesium + a gluten and dairy free diet. I lost my natural tan. I was so depressed I stayed in a recliner 24/7 and NEVER went outside for nearly a decade. I was severely deprived of vitamin D which didn’t just take away my melanin, it gave me depression too. When I did finally get pregnant, I found out how low my levels were and my doctor prescribed me high vitamin D supplements that I still take to this day. Half of all women are vitamin D deficient- but MOST women with PCOS are. Why does it take for us to actually try to get pregnant to finally be told that we have PCOS and that’s why we may be struggling? And the worst part is, this doctor MOVED - so when I managed it by losing 35lbs in 6 months & finally getting pregnant, my other doctor had no idea I had PCOS & couldn’t diagnose me with it based on past symptoms because I managed my symptoms MYSELF. 18 months postpartum, I’ve lost a total of 121lbs (90lbs last year) & maintained my weight loss over 2 years! You don’t HAVE to wait until you’re trying to conceive to be diagnosed or to get help! If you think you have PCOS because you have rapid weight gain, cystic acne, fatigue, irregular periods, mood swings, moon face, hair thinning or loss, & you’re on IG you can ➡️comment ADVOCATE & I’ll be able to DM you my PCOS guide that will help you get diagnosed with PCOS. Or if you have PCOS already, ask for the labs & know the symptoms to track to be sure you’re managing it!
