The shop I use, when posting finished work will note "art provided by client" or "custom piece based on art provided by client". I think its a nice way of noting it could be another artists work but they used thier talent to transfer to the clients skin.

I’ve bought a some work from an artist that sells prints online, and she has the option to purchase a tattoo license that gives permission to get her work tattooed; she gets credit and earns money that way, and a client can get the design of hers they really want. I thought that was cool!

It’s kind of interesting because there’s literally like an infinite amount of designs for tattoos in the world you can design and get anything you want, but people feel the need to plagiarize or even get the exact same thing someone else in the world already has… WHY

sometimes people pay me to design tattoos and I always have to give a disclaimer that what I'm giving them is something to give a tattoo artist as inspo, and they'll still be charged for the final design. Probably not gonna happen anymore thanks to ai.

I have wondered how copywrite goes for tattoo pieces, because there's some tattoos like religious symbols that are just really common for people to get, but if a client brings in their art, but the tattoo goes into your portfolio and then another person likes it are you allowed to do that same tattoo for another client?

i usually sketch my own designs really rough sketches it's a big mashup of different things I like in different drawings I send that with all the reference pictures to my artist and he cleans it up and puts his own spin on it when he thinks it will look good

I've drawn art for family members that have had it turned into tattoos which has lead to me now taking requests for more lol I don't mind since I like drawing. My one rule is that I will not directly copy someone elses work. Tattoos, art, etc. If I'm going to design a tattoo for someone as a favor I'm doing it in my style with my preferred techniques.
