I would also recommend Fukuoka if you haven’t been. It’s so underrated and sooo much less busy than the other cities.

As someone who’s going for the first time in Japan (for 10 days) next year, I really want to visit the countryside, but I was advised against it since it’s better to visit the big cities for first timers. And I agree, I really want to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Yokohama ect…But idk if I should include a visit to the countryside (knowing that I am currently studying Japanese and might be semi-fluent next year).

I am going for 2 weeks. Tokyo for 3 days, Kyoto for 4 days then back to Tokyo for 7 days. I think people focus too much on doing it all in one trip but I intend to go back so will do Osaka etc another time. I do want to do Hiroshima if possible.

all those restaurants in Tabelog are mid. Both of the restaurants I went to were meh and one of them had zero Japanese people inside. It's always best to wing it and go where you see zero tourists imo.

the truth is. there's never enough days. ive been to japan 5x now, each time i go im there for over 2 weeks. and no i still have lots i havent seen. 🤷🏻♀️

I’ll never understand the hate for Osaka. I personally found it my favorite out of the three. There was so much to explore and do. I walked around and I loved it. I found places I don’t think I would’ve ever seen if I hadn’t wandered around
