@everything7870: This has to be one of the most breathtaking sights in the world. Khor Virap monastery in Armenia, with the snow-capped Mount Ararat rising right behind it. Otherworldly beauty! The site’s first chapel was built here in 642 AD, marking the beginning of what would later become the full monastery complex. What we see today is largely from 1662, when it was rebuilt and expanded into the form that has endured through the centuries. Beyond its beauty, Khor Virap is also one of Armenia’s most sacred places, known as the prison where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was held before the conversion of the Armenian kingdom to Christianity. A landscape of otherworldly beauty layered with profound history. #landscape #Armenia #monastery #aroundtheworld #travel
