Her amazing mom, Ruby, drove 13 hours each way from Colorado to save her life after following her story all week & realizing no one else was stepping up. Because of her, Tater got a second chance. Now Tater is safe, but she is facing a medical crisis. Since arriving in Colorado, she has already undergone extensive vet care & diagnostics, & today (6/5) her condition worsened enough that she needed emergency hospitalization. She is in an oxygen chamber, had more chest X-rays, & an echocardiogram to rule out congestive heart failure. The cost is staggering. Hospitalization itself is approximately $4,500 for just one night, & Ruby has already spent much of the money that was donated to give Tater the care she desperately needs. Vets are still working to diagnose and even want to do a bronchoscopy (that will be $3,000…), but current concerns include: • Possible lung cancer involving right middle lung lobe • Enlarged lymph nodes (adenopathy) • Severe pneumonia (suspected fungal) that will require months of treatment • Possible erosive arthritis or osteosarcoma • Calcium deposits in right eye • Possible Valley Fever exposure from Texas • Possible Cushing’s disease • A broken leg This is on top of severe past neglect including extensive hair loss, skin disease, severely overgrown nails, enlarged mammary glands, etc requiring ongoing diagnostics & specialist care. Tater survived being abandoned in a 💊💊house with 16 others after owner disappeared for more than 6 days. She survived cruelty, neglect, & a deadline. She has fought so hard to be here.
