They can smell stress hormones and gravitate toward the person whose energy feels calm and predictable. 3️⃣ When your dog leans on you, sits on your feet, or follows you everywhere that’s attachment behavior. Their brain releases oxytocin around their chosen person at significantly higher levels. 4️⃣ Eye contact matters more than people think. When your dog holds your gaze for a few seconds, both of you experience an oxytocin spike the same bonding chemical seen between mothers and newborns. 5️⃣ And here’s the part most people miss: as dogs age, they don’t distance themselves from their person.
