@creatives_by_alan: Racism is comparable to a mental illness or disorder in the ways it affects and distorts perceptions of reality based on isolated or non-existent events. People who deal with racism or racist tendencies need to treat the potential for harm with appropriate care. Having a mental illness is not an excuse to act out, but it often explains when someone behaves in certain ways that range from annoying and uncomfortable to outright harmful and dangerous. Just like mental illness is a spectrum of severity that goes so low people can live entirely normal lives without ever getting a diagnosis, Racism comes in many shapes and sizes— but none of them are good, and all of them are constructed on a false reality.
