She has spoken openly about how emotionally unprepared she was for the experience and how poorly she handled it at the time. After filming she cut her hair short and avoided love scenes for years afterward. On the last day of shooting she was crying, convinced the film would end her career before it had even started. She knew the script was brave and the crew were respectful. But knowing something is a good opportunity and being ready for it are two very different things. That same film earned her a Goya Award nomination. She went on to win an Academy Award.
