I also think (at least when I was “growing up” in the industry) we were taught that consults should be free. That works for some people. But I feel like if stylists are concerned with “wasting” time on consults then charge for that time and make it valuable to both parties.

I LOVE consultations! It truly makes a difference! Especially with a new client, I want them to feel absolutely comfortable and I want to know I’m doing what’s expected. I tell the girls in my salon ALL the time “my blue is different than your blue” we have to make sure we are on the same page ALWAYS! My clients love how much time I take with them! Sometimes can be tedious but it’s not the clients job to know, it’s your job to educate! ♥️

I literally spent am hour and a half with a new guest consultation this past week. Is that normal? No. But she booked without hesitation and I feel like she left and we knew so much about each other.

I agree 100% I think the same way about injector as well when they’re trying to inject me like a cow when you’re dropping a lot of money and they’re not listening to your issues. They just wanna jam you with a needle & get y out, that’s a red flag. It’s the same with hair, I will take as long as a client needs to feel comfortable with whatever we decide.

THISSSSSS!!! Over even with color! We see clients on this app (some valid and some seeking attention) literally traumatized by experiences in the chair! I’d rather have an hour long consultation and KNOW we are on the same page and we are both READY to pull the trigger on whatever the process is, than race against the clock on a consult then one of us or both of us be disappointed in the end.
