@balenviamethod: If ballet and Pilates actually made muscles longer… I’d be taller by now. I danced ballet until I was 27. I teach Pilates. I strength train. At 5’ tall, I can confirm: none of them made my muscles longer 😅 Muscles don’t actually lengthen with exercise. They attach to the same bones they always have. So why do ballet dancers and people who do Pilates, often look “longer and leaner”? Because of how the muscles are trained. Pilates and ballet emphasize: Strength through full range of motion. Control and stability. Muscular endurance. Lower maximal loading. Heavy lifting (especially near your 1-rep max) creates more mechanical tension, which can lead to greater hypertrophy - meaning thicker muscle fibers. Different stimulus 👉 different adaptations So, the muscles aren’t getting longer. They’re just strong and mobile through their full length. And honestly? Your body will adapt beautifully to whatever you train it to do. Pilates, lifting, dance… I love them all! But if any of them could actually make you taller, trust me… I would’ve figured that out by now. 🤷🏼‍♀️

waterloometamucil :
they just make you leaner and being leaner gives you an illusion of added length
