@pagesinthenight: because mistakes are human. everyone messes up, says the wrong thing, reacts the wrong way, or hurts someone unintentionally at some point. but what keeps a relationship alive is growth after those moments. learning, adjusting, and actually changing the behavior that caused the issue in the first place. when the same thing keeps happening over and over, it stops being something accidental and starts becoming a decision. and that’s when trust begins to break down. not from one moment, but from the repetition of it. apologies are only meaningful when they’re followed by different actions. without that, they start to feel like empty words used to smooth things over temporarily instead of actually fixing anything. and over time, it’s not the mistake that ends things, it’s the realization that nothing is going to change.
