Boyz II Men Are Going Country, and the R&B Icons Say Now Is the “Perfect Time” to Make the Switch After four decades in R&B, Boyz II Men are trying something new. The trio of Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, and Shawn Stockman announced on Oct. 25 that they signed with Warner Records Nashville. They plan to release their first country project in 2027. Stockman, 54, told The Tennessean, “We love the genre so much, and at this point in our career we felt like it was the perfect time to dip our toes.” The group first came together in Philadelphia in 1985. Stockman said they grew up listening to Travis Tritt, Vince Gill, and The Chicks. He said they have “always been enamored with the storytelling component of country music.” Nathan, 55, said the group has already worked outside R&B. They have performed with country artists like Brett Young, Cody Johnson, and Chris Stapleton. Earlier this year, they released a song with Lady A called “I Love The One.” “I mean, we’ve done just about all we could do in R&B,” Nathan said. “So this is fun.” Wanya, 53, made one thing clear. “We don’t want to become country. We want to be a part of it.” The new project will be made in Nashville with “some of the best writers” in country music, Stockman said. He said the change “revitalizes our minds and our spirits and our pens.” He also said it feels like their early days. “There’s nothing better than doing a project with people who understand you and that get it.” Do you want to hear Boyz II Men sing country? #BoyzIIMen #CountryMusic #Singer #Band #shawnmendes
