My 8 year old daughter saw me crying recently bc it was the anniversary of my mamas death. She walked up to me and said “Mommy you shouldn’t be sad you know why? Bc sad stands for Secretly A Dinosaur. And thats kind of cringy to be a dinosaur don’t you think?” Then did a little double pat on top of my head and skipped away 😭

I love this, im an emotional support teacher and I would love to see more connections between parents and children. everybody is so busy, but as a mom and grandma the time is so short with them, I wish we all used it more intentionally for each other rather than staying so busy, to really connect is where the true wealth is ✨

This! We can be present and STILL not know what is going on. Ask the questions, spend the time, when they come to you at the worst or most inconvenient times don't be annoyed, let them talk and engage without judgment and without rush. Have them walk and talk if you're physically engaged in a chore or doing something ❤️

i asked my 7 yr old and 4 yr old nephews what they think about separately. the 7yr old thinks about how when he grows up he'll have a super big car and house, he said we get to get him McDonald's every day in his big car. the 4yr old said he thinks about why letters are letters and numbers are numbers and why there aren't any dinosaur power rangers.

I'm in tears. "what is the nicest thing someone has ever said about you?" my 8-year-old lives in a world where I cannot go, meaning she loves playing on her tablet, dinosaurs and acting like a T-rex, anything to do with the human body, building and math. She is never serious about anything. So I'm going in, asking these questions, thinking she's going to give me a silly answer. her answer to the question, I'm beautiful. I tell her everyday thinking she was not listening. 😭
