In defense of the UK’s tap water, it tastes different all over the country - tap water in the Scottish Highlands is different to London water for example. Different sources, treatments, and rock filters. Don’t judge all UK water based on one place.

Try tap water in the North West of England. it comes from the lake district and is filtered through slate, so neutral PH and great taste. Southern England is Chalk and Limestone so Alkaline and not a great taste. Scotland is primarily peat so the water tends to be slightly acid, however still much better than Southern England. I am not sure about Irish or Welsh water. I suspect Welsh water may also be slate filtered. 🤔

It's the same water ypu buy in bottles. Before tourism stores didn't even sell bottled water.
