Italian painter Vittorio Reggianini built his reputation on scenes where the fabrics almost steal the attention from the people wearing them. Trained in Modena, he moved to Florence in 1885 and became known for richly detailed interiors filled with shimmering dresses, polished furniture, and small dramas of courtship. His early work included still lifes and historical subjects, but these elegant social scenes became his specialty. Look closely at the dresses.
