I've had this exact same conversation before with fellow anarchists no less. At least so called. My only guess is they are insecure & crave group social acceptance deeply. I too wish people liked me and accepted me but I'm not about to abandon myself and others for it.

Like at BEST you would make at least one other humans’ life worse for a few days, at BEST. Why would you want to do that?! Especially to vulnerable populations who are already suffering???

It's simply because people still mistakenly think airborne disease spread is inevitable. Because they haven't yet updated to the idea that clean air is important. And ESPECIALLY that they can't conceptualize both having clean air and still living your life *enjoyably.*
The concept of clean air is just the next human sanitation concern, like washing your hands, food safety protocols, condoms and safe sex practices.
Imagine getting early humans to wear a condom or understand the reason for it when for millions of years we had not.
It's very hard to get people to culturally adopt the next stage of sanitation.
I mean people were dying of milkborne tuberculosis not very long ago and you still can't get people to boil milk.
People don't operate off of reason, sadly, they needed it to be culturally reinforced and that has not happened yet.
We're mostly just in group/out group beings operating off of cultural conditioning.

I wish this analogy was real but, unfortunately, many distros do not care about or practice food safety. I’ve seen diabolical things occurring in anarchist kitchens, at food not bombs, and in churches that do distro. I’ve even heard clients complain about food borne illness and then the org giving them food ignored and downplayed their complaints because ‘drug users always have gi issues’
