I know what you mean. I think a lot of people find it motivating and encouraging to see what is possible. Also a generational difference when it comes to transparency of talking numbers and opportunities with social media have massively impacted the younger generations earning capacity. Hmrc reported 11% increase in young (<30s) million £ earners last year

I think times have changed, + younger people have access to different opportunities. Especially with social media today + the comparison it causes, it can lead people to be hypercritical of themselves/others or it can be extremely motivational. Causing young people to build those habits (saving, investing, etc) more prematurely than we did. Just like anything, there will always be someone being disingenuous. But unless their content is incorrect or causing harm, I see it as a positive for the next gen 💕

I think it’s really inspiring, far from performative but just really transparent. Especially if someone’s giving advice, I appreciate seeing their earning as I would much rather rather take advice from smoke who’s in a position I want to be in rather than someone spewing advice who doesn’t practice what they preach. Bear in mind time is also more valuable than money so if I’m dedicating time listening to someone online, I would appreciate evidence to show they practice what they preach.

Totally agree… Some stories may be real, but unfortunately people lie about how they made it i.e juggling multiple roles at once / contracts which are unrealistic as per industry benchmarks etc . It’s not just misleading , it’s an integrity issue. Easy to be dishonest online & easily accepted by the audience as they likely are not informed enough to challenge . Just like with anything , Always easier to do your best & focus on own goals

The ones that ignore the go to uni & get a job, and actually just start earning. I’m here for it! Us oldies (33 years old here!) can do it too 🤣

There’s a big shift with people in their 20s now. Looking after their health more, reduced drinking, multiple income stream, looking after their finances. But I think this is a confirmation bias (I hope I got that one right!). It’s likely less than 0.5% of people in their 20s that have this, we just don’t see the others that are really struggling right now. I’ve been travelling to a few cities with work and outside of London you face the reality of how much people are struggling. I definitely am in a bubble living in London.
