I was like this when my kids were very young and the shame and guilt sucks. I’ve definitely forgave myself a lot but there is still some stuff there and I’ve been breaking cycles and learning new things for about 5 years. It’s so hard especially with no support and no one els that wants to get out of those cycles and such

100%! My husband and I started out parenting this way, when our son got into high school, we knew we needed a different approach in order to have a relationship with him that was safe so that when he graduates he will WANT to come home and be around his parents. 3 yrs into therapy and implementing our family into a team where everyone has a voice that matters. It’s been so hard to switch, but worth every second!! ❤️❤️❤️

I relate to this a lot. When do you start the repair for things that were done years before? Do you wait for them to bring it up? Or do you bring it to them? How might the conversation start?

This was so meaningful. I feel so bad for my adult kids and then I’m so happy for my 14 year old but then I feel bad for my older kids again because they deserved what my 14!year old is getting 🥺
