Kind of an outdated take...China has excelled at team sports like the women's national volleyball team and women's national basketball team

I don’t really think there is a link between communism and team sports but ig I see where you’re coming from ahaha

Due to the academic and economic stress being placed on one person per family, I'm not shocked these kids look at their team and see them as competition as well. If the goal is to stand out to secure a future, any person you're in a group with is an immediate risk. I wonder though, if the 'Little Emperor' dynamic primarily hurts males in Team Sports? As females in these families are brought up to support others within the family.

But China isn't strictly communism? There are massive markets that are surprisingly free to develope, some a lot more than US too

To say that children with no siblings are bad at teams sports is not true. If the parents encourage team sports and activities. then the child will naturally excel, in team work, and socially.

i feel like you take vague cultural traits and make far too reaching statements about this phenomenon. China is bad at team sports because of poor development pathways, it really don’t that complicated

I mean... little emperors are new, but China not being good at team sports is pretty much their history over, at least, the last century.

It’s because the know that a single great athlete can win multiple individual medals while it takes dozens of them to win one team sport. It’s a decision
