Sometimes not getting what you want is a brilliant stroke of luck.

College senior here at a state school that was DEVASTATED four years ago too. I picked myself up, went to the best bang for buck public school I could, and made something of it. I’m now working at a company my Ivy friends dream of/struggle to get into and move to NYC in 6 months. I promise it gets better stranger 🥲

You’ll be fine - I got rejected from every school, and the ones I got into didn’t give me enough scholarship for me to attend. I went to a local private that gave me scholarship, networked my ass off and built new organizations and nonprofits on campus while working full time to support both my parents. I got into a target recruiting company that didn’t even have a presence on my campus - all from what ppl thought was a “failure” university but what was my only chance to now make more money than anyone in my family has made combined. College is a time of growth, no matter the uni your efforts and how hard you work are the only things that matter - you will be okay

30 year old here. I went to UMass Amherst (state and public school) and work with people who went to Harvard, MIT, Stanford etc and make more than a bunch of them. You’ll do amazing wherever you go!

You’re going to be sad for a bit, then you’re going to apply for some state schools or start an apprenticeship somewhere and you’re going to continue to work hard and you’ll do great things. Be sad now, then make a plan and reach for the stars, you got this!!

The same thing happened to me when I applied to college four years ago; going to an ivy was my dream and I was rejected from every one. I was heartbroken, but it was meant to be. My story was already written. I ended up go to a local private university and I had the best undergrad experience (for free), & I met life long friends along the way !! Keep your head held high, you are so much more then a rejection letter. What is meant to be will be and there is something so much better out there for you!!

Years of hard work will prepare you for a long and rough road ahead. Not getting into some of these schools are just a small hiccups in that journey. Stay focused on your long term goals.

Same with me for Vanderbilt. The disappointment is crushing but I’m trying to just trust in what’s to come instead

I went to a little, unranked, middle of nowhere school while working full time and got the same degree as everyone else, with a tenth of the debt. At 32 I’ve traveled the world, have amazing friends, financially support myself, and work in my chosen field. Getting into a dream school is amazing. But life is so much longer than those four years. It’s going to be whatever you make it, no matter what school you go to.

My son just got rejected from Harvard, U Penn, etc. he’s been accepted to others and he’ll be fine. Thank you though for being transparent about your experience. Your hard work wasn’t for nothing. I’m proud of all of you kids. 🥰

As someone who almost didn’t graduate high school, I’m now in the top 10% of my graduating class at an ivy for grad school. Never the end of the world. You’ll do great!!!

got straight up rejected at stanford, literally the only school i’ve ever wanted to attend or saw myself at for my entire life, after three years of virtual neuroscience programs, a fabulous interview, and countless hours dreaming. i feel you, hang in there ❤️🩹

You’ll be fine I promise!! ❤️❤️I didn’t get into my dream school ED and was crushed/felt the same way. I ended up going to a liberal arts college (Barnard), thought I was going to transfer (and even got into Brown as a transfer student - my original dream schooo) but didn’t go because I fell IN LOVE with Barnard. There, I met the most amazing people, worked super hard/graduated with a nearly perfect GPA and am now at a T-14 law school. The reality is you’ll do amazing wherever u go and that’s the hard work that matters!! And I’m so happy I didn’t go to my dream school bc in hindsight I would’ve HATED it. But if you need to transfer to one u will!! Just know doing well at the college u end up at matters so much more!!!

I sobbed when I didn’t get into NYU for undergrad. I got into NYU and Columbia for grad school and made the decision not to attend either. This does not define you, you will end up where you are meant to be at.
