Changa Husky :
space is big, really big, you just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-boggingly big it is.

Humans will never permanently live outside our solar system. The distances are simply too vast

A light year's based on an Earth year, isn't it? So isn't it probable an alien species would have a different measurement for what a light year is?

isn't space not empty? there are gasses, dust, and stuff. at some point wouldn't you encounter friction like moving through an atmosphere or liquid?

If you think the opposite if they were too close it would be a lot more dangerous for life to exist.

Just watched the movied today. loved it. Thanks the explanation i was wondering about the 4years. And i get it with the fixtionsl fuel source as otherwise we would not be able to do it. And its cool shown how quickly the "fuel sorce" accelerate in the movie.

And mass increases as you approach the speed of light so that it takes even more fuel?

Did they explain how all the stars got “sick” near the same time? Like do the astrophages all move faster than light?

why they always mentioned time dilation but length contraction not. and also the real trick is about momentum. the more speeds you get the higher the momentum you get the more force you need to get faster. that's why a mass object will need an infinite energy to move with speed of light

Are you ever going back to your space race series? I still really want to see how The Culture (Iain M Banks) would get on.

As you approach C your mass approaches infinity, doesn’t it? How does that play into the scheme?

Have you checked out the spaceship from Avatar? Considering that it's only on screen for like ten seconds it's amazingly well-conceived!

It's really funny that two most used astrophysical units of distance both depend on solar system configuration. Light-years depend on orbital period and parsecs are relative to the distance between sun and earth
