Yes Southern is a real accent. But it's also diverse. That's like Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi. Florida (Some parts similar to the above mentioned) Florida and Louisiana are very different. North Carolina is pretty diverse in accent. Even places that are similar to the British Accent (Islander Accent).
