So in my 30s, there’s something that I have learned about financial stability; how far you’ll go in life is based on two main factors: 1. Your own drive and capabilities and 2. How much support you have. This idea of “you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it” is bullshit. “Oh but Bill gates started in his parents basement” his RICH parents. “Jeff bezos started Amazon in his living room” again, RICH parents. I do believe that people can definitely better their lives significantly through hard work and self education, but I believe it’s limited to your support system. Those who seem to have everything all together had help. Your 20 year old friend who bought a house? Mom and dad likely helped them. This isn’t to be pessimistic as I believe to enjoy your life, but this idea of people going from being “broke “ to millionaires, there’s a lot of support they’re excluding from their stories to come of as self made. Just live your life and accept that you make your own happiness despite your circumstances.
