I wish companies didn’t have labels like this on food because it actually makes my eating disorder more difficult

I’ve already had 2 panic attacks about this (as someone with an ED history)… it stresses me outtttt! I try not to look at labels, but this makes it impossible to avoid, and is very triggering

As someone with POTS who needs a ridiculous amount of sodium every day, their plan backfired cuz I go right for that label. High in sodium? Yes please!! 🤣

You know what Canadians ACTUALLY would have appreciated? Making all food more affordable. People will eat more “healthy” options IF THEY CAN AFFORD IT. ** healthy is objective, I was just making a point

The labels are a step in the right direction but I was hoping we'd do a "nutri-score" style label instead (however that's not perfect either 🤷🏻‍♀️). Health education is complex 😅

UK has a traffic light system on lots of food packages so you know if something has lots of saturated fats ect and it's very helpful to see at a glance what has for example lots of salt. it's good so people don't just blindly buy.

Its for those who have health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure etc. so they can be careful choosing the products.

My first year of my nutrition degree I thought those labels were a great idea. Now that I’m an RD, I actually can’t stand those front of package labels 🫩😩

In Finland we mark foods that are so called better choices in their own food groups regarding fiber, salt, saturated fats and sugar with red heart symbol.

There’s are a good thing, it allows a consumer to quickly look and understand if it may be something to avoid with certain health conditions like hyper tension, diabetes, cholesterol. While I do agree we could go further and put the positives in the same light like “High in Fibre” etc

The sodium gatekeeping is wild to me! Unless you actually need to eat low sodium, it is an important nutrient, please don’t avoid it! The amount of hyponatermia I see in the hospital is wild

I've found it helpful. but what I really want health canada to crack down on is the shrinkflation and ingredient changes to make food cheaper (and less nutritious)

I find these labels really helpful! I do most of the grocery shopping however I have to keep in mind that my husband has high blood pressure and is on a low sodium diet. There’s so many things with crazy amounts of sodium that you don’t think about until you read the packaging and this makes that much easier!

In Mexico, we’ve had these stamps for some time now and although it has caused some demonizing (for example, the consequent ban for stamped foods from schools) it has also made companies develop products without them. I don’t know how this has affected our rates of obesity and hipertension (which were the justification of it) which might be positive… but it also loses sight on the fact that some products (like water) are simply not accesible for some people…

So our government would rather let us know the food we eat is unhealthy instead of making healthy foods affordable. Got it.

we have this in Colombia! There are 5 of them, high in sodium, high in sugar, high in trans fat, high in saturated fats and high in sweeteners. While it's true what you say, a lot of the good nutritional facts are already part of the marketing in most packages while they hide the things that can be bad (because you know, they need the marketing to attract, not to deflect)
