As the oldest of 4 siblings, my mom refused to allow me to babysit or be in charge of my siblings. My mom was an only child and many times she had no one to play with because her friends had to stay home and take care of their younger siblings. She saw the harsh realities of her friends lives and vowed she would never do this to her children, especially me - her oldest child.
