@talkingcities: The Cheonggyecheon highway in Seoul, South Korea was transformed into a thriving public space, improving walkability and making Seoul a much nicer place to live #urbandesign #walkability #urbanplanning
this was a controversial project, you highlighted the benefits we're seeing now, but during the time the government destroyed the local markets and forced small businesses to move without proper compensation

If I’m going to doomscroll, I might as well learn something new. And I always scroll away with a new way of looking at urban spaces, thanks to you!

Very cool! There was a huge project in Providence uncovering the river. It turned into Waterplace Park which is very beautiful, lined with restaurants and walking paths. Completely changed the city!

So much of the world built highways and then realized that car-centric infrastructure was doing a lot of damage to cities and communities. They pulled it out. The US won't and it's so sad

The area I live in Copenhagen used to have a stream as well. After the world war 2, demanding of housing so they built over it. They’re talking about bringing it back so quite excited about it.

The fact that this looks just like the Denver Metro area makes me so sad like what if we just replaced that shit with a beautiful cultural river with lots of community
