Don’t get it until you get a job! My first job reimbursed it. Then my second job said I didn’t need it (all controlled rx went through MD). It was just about to expire then so I let it lapse.

I would wait until you’re hired somewhere for a few reasons depending on the state, if you are in a state that requires physician oversight you must have that in place before you can get your DEA license and if you end up working in a government run facility like a county hospital, prison, State run Acedemic centers ect that 888.00 is waived and when you have everything in order it gets approved in a few days so it’s not this long process

Make sure your employer isn’t a government entity (sometimes it’s not obvious, I had no idea my rural hospital and all the clinics it owns are considered government entities) and if it it is there is a small box to click and it will wave the fee!!
