@lydia_hudgens: If you’ve been debating @paper republic vs. @Cabine Nord , I broke down the differences between the styles I own, including size, leather, layout, and overall value. #leatherjournals #leatherjournalcover #paperepublicjournal #mypaperrepublic #louisecarmenparis
Have you ever tried the Cabine Nord with the elastic thru the back as opposed to the spine? I’m curious if you would like it or if that would get in the way. All of mine have the elastic through the spine.

Cabine Nord :
Great comparison!
Our covers are designed with everyday carry in mind- something that can easily go in a bag or purse while keeping your inserts protected. Because of that, there’s a bit of intentional space at both the top and bottom when your notebooks are centered inside.
If you set the cover down on a flat surface, though, the inserts will naturally shift downward and align with the bottom edge of the leather-so all of that extra space moves to the top!

I have a pocket journal from PR, an A5 from Made by Maia and an A5 from Boivin leather. I love all the journals but the PR mini is only the one with the awesome leather smell. I’ve had it for several months and it still has the smell. Do the Cabine Nord journal have (and keep) the leather smell?

I really want one of these journals. But I need to have both the journal cover AND moleskine/leitchurtn (sp?) inside, likely softcover, because my journals will be stored and used as books. I’m essentially consolidating and re-working books to then re-configure the science. I’m creating my own reference books that are accurate… so I need them to have the leather covers to stay sturdy. Right now I have 3 medium sized hard cover moleskines that fit inside fjallraven gear bags and it’s super handy, but eventually I will fill them up and they will become books I can carry with me. To then use… I’m basically consolidating information from other books because the sources are not totally accurate.

Thanks for this! Can you tell me how the elastics compare? I love how sturdy the Paper Republic elastic is.

I bought the XLarge thinking/assuming it was an A5 totally my oversight. I wish I had seen your review before buying. Thanks for the heads up on the economical paper that fits.

I have a Louise Carmen and am waiting on my first Cabine Nord in the A5 Slim version. I have a PR Portfolio from the atelier service. I’ve decided I love a trifold more than a bifold. And I like the slightly more malleable leather. This was a great comparison!

The grand voyager is definitely cheaper bc they know you’ll be spending money on their notebooks since it’s not standard size. It’s definitely annoying

Great comparison. I just want to buy a true A5 where I can put any standard size A5 notebook in there. After visiting both PR and LC in person, and buying a CN I ended up giving to my daughter, I went with a Roterfaden! It’s good that there are choices for everyone.
