a guy asked me for circus peanuts. my mine went to that candy stuff. I said we dont have those here. he was like yes you do I got them here before. I looked them up to please him. of course they didnt pop up. I said no sorry still didn't listen. he asked another worker. he took him to the nut section. I guess it wasnt there, he then found what he wanted peanuts. the ones in shells. he got ones for birds. wish he stated that he wanted peanuts in the shell.

When I worked at a bookstore in UK I was once asked to help someone find a book that was a rectangle. That's all they knew about the book they wanted. But they wanted a very specific book we never did figure out which one he was looking for.

that's 100% an employee issue. ehen a customer asks where is housewares, you should respond by asking them what things they're looking for specifically to make sure you're directing them to the correct aisle 👍

Someone asked me where they could get mozzarella sticks that don't have to be cooked that can go in the fridge. They didn't have a picture or anything so I sent them to the frozen section and they came back and said that they aren't over there. Then they told me that it's in a plastic bag and not in the frozen section. So we got another employee to help and they said that they didn't know where they would be. A few minutes later, we figured it out. They wanted string cheese, so I brought them to the dairy section and we found the cheese.

I agree but there's also the opposite problem, where customers want an EXTREMELY SPECIFIC item. Like I work in apparel, and sometimes customers will come up to me and ask me something like, "Do you have any shorts that are are denim but aren't blue and don't have any pockets and are above the knee but not mid-thigh but aren't this brand or that brand and they aren't made of this material but are made of at least 30% of that material?" Girl idk??? Do I look like a computer to you, like I'm able to mentally catalogue all the tiny little insignificant details about every single pair of shorts in the apparel department on the off chance some rando asks about it? Go look at the shorts and find one that fits what you're looking for, we're both going to have the same amount of luck finding your extremely specific preference in shorts !!!!!

*sigh* when i worked retail, i took them to the item they wanted, be it in my section or not. I did not point in some direction and let them wander lost in the wilderness. but I do get it. customer needs to tell you specifically what he wanted.

I had someone get mad because they asked for a price check, they had like 7 items in there cart. I'm like for what and they got mad and asked for the manager. I told them I was and still was mad. I'm like ma'am I need to know what specific item you need a price check on.
