@sozosalonpgh: I just found out that Amanda who cried in the car about her hair with the emotional support chicken has privatized her account. and I don't blame her. The hair stylist of TikTok bullied her, gas lit her, demeaned her, simply because she wasn't happy with her hair. as a hair stylist, I really hope that my clients feel safe enough to come and talk to me when something is wrong. I hope they don't cry to the internet, but I wouldn't blame them either. hair stylists have made them self completely unapproachable by responding like this to clients like Amanda. Yes I do believe Amanda's inspiration pictures where AI generated, or at least AI edited. But the result was still achievable. and even if it wasn't achievable, the hair stylist should have set some realistic expectations and been honest about what she could or could not do. that is our job in the service industry is to make it very clear to a client if The result is unattainable. in this case I believe the result was attainable, as the end result was actually closed as inspiration pictures but not quite on the money. and his hair stylists it's our job to adjust our technique to fit the needs of the client to help them achieve their hair goals. I really hope Amanda's experience doesn't keep her out of hair salons forever. if you are my client, please know that I hope you feel safe enough to come and talk to me. #pittsburghsalon #pittsburghhairstylist #amandacryingoverhair #amandacryinginthecar #hairtok

I’ve done here for 35 years. I actually do not agree with you. I don’t know anything about the video and I’m not gonna even speak on that, but I do believe some social media. Social media has ruined lots of different professions by allowing people to sit behind a keyboard and rant and rave, and potentially put certain businesses out of business it’s unfair. The Salon or any business should always have a chance to fix what is broken first before it goes out and gets spread the way at this one obviously did. I think both sides have work to do.

I don’t know hair at all and I know the inspiration pics are AI but even I can see she wanted warmth and her hair ended up with very cool tones. She just didnt have the language.

Totally see what you’re saying. I mean technically everyone has the right to post what they want & have their own opinion if that’s not what she wanted. But on the flip side, it’s important to think about how something you post could affect someone else’s career/life. And that hairstylist deserves to have other people or other hairstylist defend her because they can relate. I do think if she was that unhappy she should have reached out to the hairstylist. Although, I do understand if she was embarrassed or not comfortable to do so. but don’t post something online for potentially hundreds/thousands of people to see if you’re not ready to also get heat. She’s absolutely allowed to still have her account. She’s absolutely allowed to still have that video up. But if she can’t handle the criticism, she shouldn’t have posted it. But sidenote : I am just sharing my opinion, and I totally respect your opinion as well!!! 💙

She didn't blast the salon she didn't even name them. She knows it's not there fault she said she doesn't know why SHE doesn't like it why are we blasting this lady? I feel so bad for her genuinely I'm also a cosmetologist I just don't understand why it's such a big deal.

The client has a responsibility to speak to the stylist first. It's like any other business. Go back to who did the work and allow them the opportunity to fix it before going to someone else.

Thank you. I like seeing people actually validating this poor girl. These videos I’ve been seeing about her have been hurtful to say the least. I’m glad someone is actually standing up for her. In any other scene, this would genuinely be bullying, and people are not seeming to understand that.

Some of the videos are so mean! I feel so bad for her. As a person who isn't in the hair style business, it really felt like some of the stylists expected her to know all the proper terms in order to "communicate her expectations" and that just isn't realistic. How a woman's hair looks is a very big part of how she feels about herself and if it isn't good, then that will be a very emotional, negative reaction. I didn't like how the stylist that did her hair mocked her at the end of her video either. Amanda didn't call the stylist or business out by name, the stylist outed herself so to mock her at the end was just mean. Hopefully she is able to go back to her original stylist and get the look she was hoping for. Thank you for staying this and standing up for people like her.

also I've been in the situation where I brought a pic to my (beloved) colorist and she's done her best to replicate it and it didn't turn out that way. the stylist can do a good job AND the client can still be disappointed and both can be true at the same time. personally, I will always go to my stylist first (and have) and ask her to fix it (she did) but I would still be allowed to express myself on the internet if I wanted to (i wouldn't want to, that's not my thing, but it would be ok to vent online as long as you weren't bashing or demeaning the stylist).

Hard disagree. I’ve been in this industry for 25 yrs. We are in new territory and someone publicly doing this could devastate someone career. The work was good. Mind you in her first video she said she didn’t know what she wanted to do. In the crying video she said she didn’t know why she didn’t like it. These are big problems. This is not how we communicate we are unhappy. I for one don’t want clients who think this is acceptable. If you are grown enough to get your hair done, you’re grown enough to communicate your needs. Before every new client leaves i tell them I’m happy to adjust anything if something doesn’t feel right. To bypass that and go straight to TikTok is immature and childish.
