Hey queen! I’ve just noticed this exchange in your comments. I can see that you’re a kind, joyful person with a good heart - so please do take something from this lil’ lesson about animals (and if you don’t wanna listen to me, a quick Google will honestly tell you the same thing). There’s a few reasons why feeding wild animals is bad - the first and main one is that it disrupts feeding and migration patterns (if applicable)! As a wild animal, its instinct is to find food, and tourism like this is giving it an easy option. Their food hunt stops, and they become reliant on this feeding - therefore it’s no longer a ‘wild’ animal as it’s now dependent on humans 🥺 In terms of reproduction, well they just won’t leave, because they can’t leave, because they can’t find food for themselves. No more baby rays/sharks/whatever animal is being fed and entering/disrupting the food chain. A third reason, is that psychologically through conditioning, the animal will associate both humans/boats with getting their food. This is BAD because unfortunately not all humans have hearts like yours. There have been cases in Maldives & Indonesia where another sea creature, the whale shark, has been hurt by boat propellers because of an increased trust. It’s honestly just not worth promoting this activity when it can be absolutely detrimental to a species, and as someone with 1.1M followers, it would be incredible to see someone help us smaller accounts to try and make a difference with our education 💕🥺
