A lady I took this exact train with once told me that she actually books Boston to New Haven and then takes the commuter line to grand central; which meant her amtrak ticket was like 20 bucks or something? might be of use to you

hey! u have check weekdays and only at like around midnight OR early morning like 6-8am. i usually book about a month to even 2 weeks out and wait for the $20-30 trains one way! ill never pay more than $50 one way. hope tht helps :)

I took a Flixbus from South Station in Boston to the Moyaham Station in NYC back in November and it was a longer drive than an Amtrak would have been and small seat areas, but it was definitely MUCH cheaper than Amtrak. I felt safe as a woman traveling alone and I didn’t have anyone next to me so I put my bag there and It was fine. Took a round trip on it.
