@bungustore: LACONIC only made planners and diaries. Then the pandemic pushed everything digital and their market started disappearing. So their director made a strange call — build a mechanical pencil. With zero experience. Development was brutal. No engineering background, no pen-making expertise, just "can't do it" over and over. But that's what made it work. They weren't copying what already existed. They stripped everything back — no clip, no logos, no gimmicks. Just a weighted body, a rubber grip, and an anti-roll ring. They called it the Solid Write. It won a Good Design Award, then took the top spot at Japan's Stationery Store Grand Prize out of over 1,200 entries. Their very first pen.
