LANA!!! Girl, this was me at your age. I had a traumatic experience as well and swore off love, friends. I’m 37 now. I’m happily married and have two very close friends. My circle is small but way bigger than I ever thought it would be. I truly believe I’m only at this place and can be happy in this space cause I healed in my 20’s. I understand your position, the ways you’ve been betrayed, and your traumatic childhood. BUT, don’t count out love just yet. You may end up finding someone you want to spend your time with who values you, for you. I’m not saying to just go for any random person who you’re attracted to, but also, don’t shut someone out because of your past. My husband was my “exception to the rule” when I was least expecting it. Hoping nothing but happiness for you. Whatever that looks like.

I was in TO last week for a conference and I typically refuse to go to a restaurant and eat alone out of fear that people will think I’m a loser. Well I went out, brought my book, had dinner, some sangria, and dessert. Honestly the best couple of hours in a long time. I did it thinking about how you have no fear of doing these things!
