GenVee :
personally I've found the no kings days to be very energizing and grounding, because I have so few people who are protesting that it feels empowering to come together with other people who are anti fascist.
there are pros and cons to everything, and I'm choosing to focus on the positive aspects of no kings days as most important.
fundamentally though, the psyop aspect of a lot of whats happening is real.
if you don't want to go to a No Kings protest, simply don't, do what makes sense to you - but if people do, there are valid, positive reasons to do so.
I don't think anyone with their head on straight thinks these protests alone are changing the world, they aren't, but to be honest, they're honestly pretty fun, and low risk (in many places). they're helping Americans see many other Americans who are willing to take time to stand against what's happening.
if anything that is a comfort in the face of a govt that wants us divided, fighting one another, and thinking protesting means you're done sort of weird extremist.
i have seen little evidence of that. most of the protests I've been to were full of people of all kinds with ba significant number of older Americans, people who know what fascism looks like because they're literally seen and even fought it before.
