I will never believe he stole the poster. The North Koreans "evidence" was a grainy video of a medium-short man whose face you can't see. There is no way that video is of a giant 6 foot four American.

He didn’t take a poster. There is no evidence of him taking a poster. There was some weird video that was clearly staged. And not him. And not a poster. They just accused him because they wanted to get at America. It could have been anyone. I can’t blame everybody for believing this narrative that he took the poster because I initially thought the same way that everybody else did. Like wow what an entitled white boy. But then I realize that this is a highly manipulative totalitarian dictatorship. Why should we believe any part of their narrative? There’s some great videos on YouTube about this.

I don't want to especulate and come to a conclusion on whether Otto did it or not, bc whatever he did the punishment was cruel and unfair, BUT I can see why any young, white, american man would steal a poster even if there's thousands of them in gift shops. It's about how you got it, and the story you can tell your friends about it when you get back home.

I won't speak on if he did or didn't, but I will say I don't find it shocking if he did. Hes young in a scary foreign country and made his way onto a floor he wasn't supposed to be, and he saw something he wasn't supposed to have, so he might've taken it. Its exciting, just like going to NK is exciting. I don't find it difficult to understand at all.
