Take your hammer and hammer the sharp tip of the screw, then screw the screw in.

Put it in reverse for a few seconds, let the screw get hot, and then send it. Works great

if u don't have a drill bit, just put it in reverse and unscrew it thru the wood

they are countersunk screws and the shape of the head will split hard woods if not pre drilled

Also drill 1 inch each from each edge instead of 1/2 inch helps.
