This is only viable if the cost price and sales price have almost no relationship. Like designer sunglasses cost €5 to manufacture and sold at €200. Same with A brand fashion. We are all stupid for buying those brands, its the trap where we want to show off to other people.

In the fashion world destroying unsold seasonal goods is common if its already been delivered to port. This is to maintain margins and also the loss helps for tax purposes.
