getting called a liar when you're telling the truth is the most frustrating thing in the world :/

Understandably, I still didn’t feel understood in the end. Maybe because my frustration was louder than what I wanted to say

As someone who grew up in a dysfunctional household, I hate that I always feel the need to shout just to be understood—especially knowing how much I loathed my own parents for being angry and shouting all the time. To become someone like them is one of my biggest fears.

It seems to be the only way I can be heard in a dysfunctional household. I resent having to raise my voice just to be heard, to be understood.

I get scared of myself everytime I raise my voice cause I'm scared of being my parents...but the difference is I'm not raising it out of anger, I'm raising my voice subconciously cause I felt invisble, or sometimes it feels like no one actually hears me.

Then I started holding back my tears out of anger, and also because I regretted voicing my frustrations—only to be misunderstood again because I had shouted.

This is how my little brother explained to me why he was always raising his voice. He means well and he does not want to hurt others. I am trying my best to be that someone who will always listen to him. I just hope I am doing enough to make him feel that I am always here to listen and understand his side.

Finally, i felt seen and heard to your post. I've been dealing this all by myself. Wondering when will i be as patient, soft spoken and calm the way they want. I am trying...and it's even hard when all they see is who i am in the past and not my efforts to change. Those people i love tend to leave me because of my habit of raising my voice. But it's the only way i know to be seen and heard. But at the end of the day it's always me—only myself can help how to overcome and change this toxic habit.

but then I realized that there's absolutely no point in explaining things if they aren't even willing to listen and to understand me. So, whenever I feel misunderstood, I'd just calm down and be quiet because I realized that I'm just wasting my time.
